Congratulations Rachel for being Athlete of the Month for February! She was a part of our cliffhanger challenge that she won with a hang-off time of 3:07! She also completed the CrossFit open this past month! Here’s a little bit about Rachel “ I started CrossFit to help with the stress of life since exercise has always been my outlet. I then fell in love.I started in 2017 but took a break in 2019 I missed it so much that I reached out to ASDC a couple of years later which wasn’t my prior box and was welcomed with open arms.There are so many things about ASDC that I love, I can’t just name one—- the impeccable coaching, the community, and the family I have made outside of my own.I would tell someone who is nervous to start that it’s ok to be nervous when trying something new. Our January athlete of the month was Meylin! Mey started CrossFit over 10 years ago by accident. She was standing in line to get into her Zumba class and a girl asked if Mey could go with her to her first CrossFit class with her and she said “Sure, why not?” and was hooked ever since. Meylin’s favorite thing about ASDC is “The community!!!! No matter how badly I give up in my head…. Someone always is cheering me on to finish my WOD! I never feel ashamed if I was the last one to finish a WOD. I just feel accomplished that I have only myself to beat!” Her advice to anyone who wants to start CrossFit but might be scared is to JUST DO IT! Our December athlete of the month was Pantelis Balaskas! Pete started CrossFit about 4 months ago after looking for something more challenging than regular gyms. He has grown to love doing squats and deadlifts. Pete has been putting in a lot of extra work to better his fitness one being doing ice baths and using the sauna. He said that his favorite thing about ASDC is “Coach Brian is great and he is always looking forward to developing workouts. Also, the gym most recently adding the recovery room which is great and I highly recommend it to all of the athletes.” Help us congratulate Pete!

Our member of the month for November was Lily! She started CrossFit about 6 year ago to have accountability and to have someone coach her. Lily loves the programming at ASDC especially when her favorite movement, cleans, are included! Help us congratulate Lily on crushing it in the gym this past month! Way to go!

October’s Athlete of the Month is Heather Baker! Heather started CrossFit 9 years ago because she was bored with traditional workouts and wanted to start weightlifting. “I was intrigued by the structure of the workouts and doing things that tested your mental and physical limits.” Heather’s favorite movement is squat cleans. Heather loves the community at ASDC but she also loves the programming and the emphasis on good form and safety.
