Melissa began CrossFit at age 49, proving that it is never too late to improve one’s fitness or ability. Like everyone else, she started with a set of dumbbells, a kettlebell, and a PVC pipe. It wasn’t long before Melissa experienced that “bad-ass” satisfaction of dropping a heavy barbell during a deadlift or power clean workout. What solidified her love for CrossFit was the encouraging community. CrossFit builds friendships and self-confidence like no other group fitness. It helps one’s body practice moves that will improve longevity and quality of life (a deadlift enables you to grab that 60 lb bag of dog food off the floor at Costco). Most people at the gym know Melissa, but here are some things you may not know … Best vacation? Beach. Favorite healthy food? Steak. Favorite cheat food? Steak. Most desired superhero power? To fly (who wouldn’t want this?) Melissa lives in New Jersey with her husband (also a CrossFitter), three college-aged children, and three semi-behaved dogs.
